How Auckland Feast Started

For eleven days this spring, Auckland's dining precincts belong to the city. This is the story of how Auckland Feast powered by Mastercard came to be, and why we think it's exactly what Auckland's hospitality scene has been waiting for.

A team that knows Auckland's tables

Lemongrass Productions has been running large-scale events in New Zealand for well over a decade. If you've queued for a plate at Taste of Auckland, planned your calendar around Restaurant Month, grabbed something at Street Eats, browsed exhibitors at The Auckland Travel Show, joined us at Tohunga Tūmau, or spent an afternoon at Winetopia, you've already met our team.

Along the way, one question kept coming back, from diners, from restaurateurs, from partners: given how good Auckland's food scene is, why is there no city-wide food festival?

  • Dumplings Crawl on Lorne Street

Our kaupapa

A world-class hospitality scene needs a signature festival. Starting in the central dining suburbs, Auckland Feast will actively grow to encompass more of Tāmaki Makaurau each year. Our mission is to share the best of Auckland hospitality, and show you a great time doing it.

Three ways to feast

Whatever floats your boat, there are three key ways to take part in Auckland Feast powered by Mastercard:

  • Dish + Drinks — A social hour from 4-7pm built around $50 for a shared plate and two drinks at some of the city's most exciting spots.

  • Loudly Local Menus — festival set menus built around local produce and producers, at participating restaurants across the city.

  • Special Events — launch night, long lunches, a garden party and more, for the nights you want to make an occasion of it.

Full details on each land alongside the programme announcement, joining the list now means you'll hear first.

Powered by Mastercard

Partnering with Mastercard was a natural fit right from the start. Through Priceless.com, Mastercard connects people to the experiences they love, and for Auckland Feast that means presale access and exclusive benefits for cardholders. We're glad to have their support in bringing the festival to life.

What's next

General tickets go on sale 1 October, with presale access for Mastercard cardholders just ahead of that on the 28 September. Join our newsletter to be first to know when the presale and full programme drops at https://www.aucklandfeast.co.nz/newsletter
